Response to COVID-19

We are experiencing a landmark event - a global pandemic that has severely impacted every person on the planet - physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Resonance Massage & Bodywork immediately closed our doors when the pandemic first began and began the work of learning how to effectively address the issue - for us and our families and our clients.  

Massage therapy involves close contact, and so inherently presents a risk of transmitting or contracting the coronavirus. Also, massage therapy can be a vital tool in addressing the negative impacts of the pandemic. Anxiety, fear, frustration, anger, short temperedness, depression, guilt, apathy, poor sleep, low energy, poor diets, weakened immune system, changes in appetite, body pain, loss of short term memory, increased substance use/abuse - the list goes on. Extensive research has shown that massage therapy can address all of these issues. And healing touch by a caring therapist can be immensely helpful for those who have had to endure social isolation by themselves.​


Below are the protocols Resonance Massage & Bodywork takes provide care to our community as well as the requirements for our clients. Some of these are required by the State of New Mexico, or come from All Together New Mexico's COVID-Safe Practices for Individuals & Employers. Some are suggested by the American Massage Therapy Association, the Association of Massage & Bodywork Professionals, or OSHA. And, others are guidelines instituted in other states such as New York's Personal Care Services Guidelines for Employers and Employees. All of them are required at Resonance Massage & Bodywork (unless otherwise indicated as a request) and are intended to provide as safe a space as possible for you to continue on your path of healing and wellness.

Before Your Appointment

  • In order to schedule an appointment on-line, you must submit your response to our Declaration of Health form. If you schedule your appointment more than 2 weeks out, you will be asked to resubmit the Declaration of Health no later than 24 hours before your appointment. If you book your appointment another way, we will email you the link to the form.

  • Unfortunately, even with the most rigorous sanitation protocols, enhanced client screening, and social distancing precautions, there is still risk of COVID-19 transmission involved. We require all clients read and sign our COVID 19 Liability Release Waiver and submit it prior to your appointment.

  • Resonance Massage & Bodywork has multiple treatment rooms. We will stagger the start times for each treatment room and schedule appointments so that there is at least 15 minutes before the next client is expected to arrive. This may require that we adjust your start time to work around other appointments.

To minimize contact, you are welcome to download and print forms, fill them out at home, and then email us a scan or a very clear photograph that includes all text and signatures. Send them at least 24 hours before your appointment to

During Your Appointment

  • Before and after every appointment, therapists thoroughly clean and sanitize door knobs, the massage table, face cradle, and other furniture in the treatment rooms and waiting area.

  • As we have always done, sheets and face cradle covers are changed for every appointment.

  • Therapists wear a face covering throughout the appointment.
  • Clients are asked to come alone to your appointment, unless you are getting a couple's massage, need mobility assistance, or if the client is a minor. 

  • Please text your therapist when you arrive. If they are still with another client or preparing for your appointment, please remain in your car or just outside of Suite F. Your therapist will text or call you when they are ready for you to enter the space. If you do not have a cell phone, please wait just outside Suite F and your therapist will come get you when they are ready.

  • Clients must wear a face covering the entire time, except when you are face-down. If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, your doctor must confirm this with us before your appointment.

  • Upon arrival to Suite F and before you depart, clients must wash your hands for 30 seconds. The bathroom is located directly beyond the entrance door.

  • Water and tea will be served in disposable cups. To cut down on waste and the use of plastics, clients are asked to bring your own lidded beverage container


After Your Appointment

  • Your therapist will check in with you a few days after your session, primarily to see how your body and spirit are responding to the treatment.

  • If you or anyone in your household begins to show symptoms of COVID-19 and/or test positive for COVID-19 within 2 weeks of your appointment at Resonance Massage & Bodywork, please let us know as soon as possible so we can follow the rapid response guidelines issued by the New Mexico Department of Health.
